Even The Toughest Cops Can't Handle This... Alone

Every human being has a psychological breaking point; this is painfully obvious in the shadow of the Las Vegas shooting on Sunday, October 1st, 2017.  Despite popular belief that cops are superhuman, even the toughest and best police officers are waging a psychological battle they can’t win on their own. If there is systemic oppression related to police officers, it lies in the macho, "I can handle it" culture that is prevalent throughout the policing community. This is a conversation cops and civilians alike must have if we are to expect the police to rise to the challenge of law enforcement.

Muddy Water - What is Discrimination?

In a world of safe spaces, microaggressions and trigger warnings, plenty of people feel entitled to be offended. But is being offended in the workplace the same as being discriminated against? Is crass and otherwise repulsive talk akin to sexism? Can we be made uncomfortable by our coworkers without being oppressed? Where do we draw the line between people voicing their opinions (however objectionable they may be) and true sexism, racism, or bigotry? Terence discusses all of the above in this listener driven episode of Police Academy!

Should Women Be Police Officers?

A Google employee was fired this week for contending that men and women are in fact... get this... DIFFERENT! That's oversimplifying things but it raises some important questions about women in male dominated fields like tech and law enforcement. Why is it different and/or difficult for women in these fields? Is it harder for a woman to become a cop than a man? Should women be cops? Are we actually different? Ready, set, let's do this!

This is not a pro-gun or anti-gun discussion. This is about fear, courage, overcoming ignorance, and refusing to live in denial.
